Hello I’d like to introduce myself; my name is Dawn Hilton
and I am a qualified consultant trichologist RIT

Dawn Hilton RIT
My clinic is based in Ossett West Yorkshire and offers ease of access from the intersection of the M1 and M62 motorways.
My fascination with hair started over 30 years ago as an apprentice hairdresser and it hasn’t waned yet. I joined the education team at the Institute of Trichology in London as a Tutor in 2022 and I balance my working week between my own patients in clinic and education work.
During in my years of hairdressing, I encountered a number of hair and scalp conditions that were out of the remit of hairdressing training. This led to my desire to understand the internal factors within the body that leaves such an impact on the hair and scalp, this is where my Trichology journey began.
I started my trichology training in 2016 at the prestigious Institute of Trichologists, the institute was founded in 1902 and have since been passing on their wealth of knowledge and experience to the future generations of Trichologists. This part of my job gives me great pleasure as I frequently meet with Trichology students and support them in their own journey.
The Institute was such a great fit for me and I can’t thank them enough. I excelled with my studies graduating from year 1 with a distinction alongside the coveted John Firmage award for distinction. I was as hungry for knowledge in year 2 and was rewarded by graduating year 2 in 2018 with a second distinction and the rarely awarded John Mason award for excellence.
Following on from graduation the training required a further 2 years under the tutelage of a fellow from the institute, of which I completed in December 2020.
Although my trichology training is complete my professional development will continue via the many CPD events available in this line of ever-changing hair sciences.
I frequently find that patients seeking my care and advice are often impacted by the emotional aspect related to their hair and scalp concerns. Patients may have struggled for sometime without knowing where to seek the correct advice and guidance. Therefore, I strive to provide a welcoming and supportive environment where patients can speak openly and explore the impact of their hair or scalp condition. If you feel I can be of help, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
